Solar energy converters

  • Develop and characterize highly efficient materials for photovoltaics by using the upconversion, downconversion or downshifting processes;
  • Explore RE ions embedded in inorganic materials for spectral converters in solar cells;
  • Development of thin films based on CZTS, CIGS and other matrices for absorber layers in solar cells.
  • Two main lines will be addressed:
    • the development of efficient thin-film CZTS and CIGS-based materials for solar cell absorber layers and
    • RE doped and codoped transparent hosts for solar cell converters focusing on the downconversion, quantum cutting and upconversion phenomena. The samples will be fully characterized by the optical techniques
